Dear Scratchers,
As promised here's the lowdown on last weeks recording session in sunny St.Albans... The previous visit to Unsigned studios in February yielded some sure fire 'solid' album matter for the next album (in progress as we speak... that's not the name by the way...) but this time hopes were high as at least 2 of the 4 tracks have been earmarked under the 'high single potential' category...
Track 1 (in no order, here's a rough idea, how we think they are sounding so far.) was 'Against the Grain' a track that most of you will know live as Who Ray?, which has been given an even bigger souped up pounding rock feel... track 2 'Freakshow' this one is a slow sleazer more in the vein of Stranger from NBOMT... think T.Rex meets, Queens of the Stone Age, jamming with the Dandy Warhols... track 3 'You want the world' has Undertones, Killing Joke and twist of Devo.. Shane the studio engineer thought Graham Coxon too for good measure... and track 4 'Look of the Century' the only one as yet without a verse vocal...is by The Scratch's standards an epic at nearly 4 minutes... but contains a chorus, that will hopefully be all the rage in festival season 09!
Big thanks to Shane for his expertise, patience and input...
We shan't be giving away any more details of album 3 yet, suffice to say, it;s taking very good shape...
Watchout for the newies at a festival near you this summer!
xx
