How John remembered where to go is still a mystery... but he did and on arrival at CRMK.co.uk, the dynamic duo of Andy and he, were greeted once more by the star of the show resplendent in Batman t-shirt, Hugh Davenport. Hugh wasn't feeling himself tonight... on account of getting chilly up the bloody tower!? (ok ok, enuff carry on film dialogue), but he really had caught a chill in London the previous night. In light of no Grim (sunning himself with friends in St.Tropez, whilst flicking through musical perfection weekly)... tonight was pure chat. We began with discussing, New single Girls World, which Hugh duly played (twice in fact), b-side Sweet Surprise and previous single Critical Mass, before 'scatter gunning' between subjects as diverse as The Nationwide BPI Brits Music award thing... to which Northern line tube stations certain bands has written songs about. It was great fun. So good in fact that Andy and John stayed for the second hour too, helping to keep Mr.D on track!
The original plan had been to see Hugh again and publicise Girls World, but it ended with the uber bonus of an offer of a special Scratch show in the new year, where we pick the tracks and Hugh spins the wax!, so we’ll keep you guys posted... Big thanks and hope to see you in November in St.Albans mate. Hope the chill improves... work on the air drumming and we'll let you know then!
And finally, a word to the worldwideweb.
To all of you in internet land, if you're sick of the usual playlisted bowlox on your evening radio, you could do a lot worse than tune into crmk.co.uk - Hugh is an old skool DJ with a truly eclectic plectrum, off the wall and round the back by the bike sheds... we won’t mention that he played Queen once… don’t worry, your secret is safe with us mate!
Thanks for a great night.
xx
