Good times come to me now, me now, me now - The Horn, we've got it!

Before I begin, I don’t want to talk about the fact that though gigs by The Scratch must be well into three figures now, last night at The Horn was definitely in the top 5 of gigs the band has ever done, I don’t want to talk about the massive feeling of excitement crackling from the stage, I don’t want to talk about the ragged raw power of this the bands top 30 minute set…

What I want to talk about is the people who were there. The people who turned up in great (and greater), numbers some in Scratch t-shirts, some in their work clothes, some in their mums clothes! but all with the killer attitude of having a great night watching their favourite band. YOU GUYS WERE AMAZING. From song one (Numbers) the level of abandon and commitment to the cause of sheer enjoyment grew and grew to scarcely seen proportions in the these parts. It shows how much the band need you, our friends (it always seems OTT to say fans, but I guess you keep coming gig after gig, buying the singles wearing the t-shirts, you must be fans I guess, well the feeling goes both ways, if you’re fans of us. We’re BIG fans of you!)

The gig was a warm up for the mega potential important In the City showcase in Manchester on Monday 6th October. Much inter band camaraderie was in evidence with the excellent/eccentric Molotov’s, so all boads well for a riot in the
Heart of Manc land next week.

The Horn a venue that has just won small venue of the year, is being steered back into the realms of the good old days (Not with Billy Dainty!), but the days when St.Albans and Herts bands had the weekend spots and there was a great buzz about the cities scene, it’s been 15 years in coming, but it looks like promoter Hansi, is getting things back to how they should be, ‘cos however worthy and in a lot of cases proficient tribute acts and cover bands can be, it’s original music that is the life blood. There is talk of a possible bi-monthly residency for The Scratch next year, and on last nights evidence, exciting times of rammed local nights could well be just around the corner. Tell your friends, your foes and your fans, we’re scene building and ’09 is the place to see it and be it!

If The Scratch can harness even half of the magic fairy dust that they had sprinkled on them last night, the long awaited breakthrough can’t surely be far away. A night of oneness abounded. We are ecstatic. Massive thanks and big highs to those of you also who saw us for the first time and were brandishing Cd’s in the bar after and a big high to Michael, we see you their next time mate, don’t for get to get in touch. “Rock’n’Roll, mate, “Rock’n’Roll!”
